On Saturday May 17, 2008, the Palais de l'UNESCO vibrated to the rhythms and colors of Africa during an exceptional gala evening organized by the Dekkal Thiossane association. This prestigious event, sponsored by the Permanent Delegation of Senegal to UNESCO and supported by several other African delegations (Benin, Cameroon, Côte d'Ivoire, D.R. Congo), offered participants an unforgettable experience combining refined gastronomy, exceptional artistic performances and a festive atmosphere.
Under the leadership of its President, Paulette Correa, and thanks to the impeccable organization of the association's members, the evening took place in an exceptional setting, offering a splendid view of the Eiffel Tower. The 7th floor of the Palais de l'UNESCO hosted a refined reception where an exotic dinner delighted the taste buds of the guests.

The artistic line-up was particularly rich and varied. The fashion show, the highlight of the evening, showcased the talent of Cameroonian designer Imane Ayissi, an emblematic figure of contemporary African fashion, known for her elegance and audacity. Her creations captivated the public with their refinement and originality.

Musical performances transported participants to the heart of Africa. Franco-Ivorian singer Kiane mesmerized the audience with her unique New World style. Congolese singer Tsunami and his dancers set the stage ablaze with their frenzied Ndombolo, making the hall vibrate to the rhythm of this emblematic dance. Bissau-Guinean singer Ramiro Naka put in a captivating performance, singing Goumbé, a typical Guinea-Bissau style. Last but not least, the Senegalese troupe Rakadiou offered a striking demonstration of sabar, the traditional Senegalese dance, whose lively rhythms and resonant tom-toms created an irresistible festive atmosphere.

A tombola rounded off the evening, giving participants the chance to win a number of prizes, including a round-trip plane ticket from Paris to Dakar.
The event was a success, celebrating the richness and diversity of African cultures. Dekkal Thiossane's gala evening was a moment of sharing, conviviality and celebration, demonstrating once again the association's unwavering commitment to promoting African arts and culture.
